BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
Navy Petty Officer Michael Kaske was born on October 31st, 1986 in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin.
He grew up in Chisago City, Minnesota and graduated from Chisago Lakes Area High School in 2005.
Michael’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, golfing, cars, motorcycles and bodysurfing and he loved spending time with family and friends. He also was an active Boy Scout and achieved the highly regarded rank of Eagle Scout.
After high school graduation he enlisted in the Navy and was assigned to the USS Higgins DDG 76, a guided missile destroyer home ported in San Diego, California. Michael achieved the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class and his primary duty was Engineman. Additionally he was part of a 15 man VBSS, Visitor Boarding Search and Seizure team, which did SWAT type search and seizure on land and foreign ships. His naval experience took him to Iraq, the Persian Gulf and the Western Pacific.
On October 5th, 2008, at the age of 21, Michael Carl Kaske lost his life from injuries sustained near San Diego, California.
He was survived by his parents, Roger and Cindy Kaske, his sisters Elizabeth and Amy (Patrick McElroy), nephew Brody, grandmothers Ruby Kaske and Donna Bakke and many other friends and relatives including Rob, Kim and Macey. The funeral service occurred on October 11th, 2008 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lindstrom, Minnesota with burial at Fairview Cemetery in Lindstrom.
